Push barges occupy an important position at Port of Amsterdam. Literally, since they take up about 100,000 m2 of water surface area. There are currently enough places for over 100 push barges. Athos tests market interest in CO2 delivery, CO2 usage and storage locations

Gasunie, EBN, Port of Amsterdam and Tata Steel are working together as Athos, on the development of a CCUS project in the North Sea Canal area. The parties recently completed a feasibility study and announced that they will continue the project by conducting various follow-up studies.

Bio-based welding gas production facility to open in the port of Amsterdam

The US-based Taronis Fuels will be launching its first-ever production facility in Western Europe in the port of Amsterdam. The new site will be dedicated to the production of bio-based welding gas, a fuel type commonly used in the construction and shipbuilding industries.

New state harbour master appointed

Effective 1 November 2019, Milembe Mateyo (1970) will be appointed Harbour Master of Amsterdam, State Harbour Master North Sea Canal and Director of the Central Nautical Management. She will be heading the Harbour Master's Division, which carries out the nautical tasks of Port of Amsterdam.

Port of Amsterdam transhipment increases in the first half-year by more than 12%

Transhipment in the North Sea Canal Area of the seaports of Amsterdam, IJmuiden, Beverwijk and Zaanstad rose in the first half of 2019. This was the result of an increase in transhipment in the first six months of this year in the port of Amsterdam by 12.3% – another record.

CWT starts largest solar project in the Port of Amsterdam
